Unpopular Ex-Epic Games Store Exclusive Is Suddenly Available For Free On Steam

Might I suggest 2020's Sludge Life to you if, like me, you believe that life is far too short to waste on significant, self-congratulatory games (or people, for that matter)? It was once limited to the Epic Games Store, but roughly a year later it made its way to Steam, where you could purchase it for $15. But for now, as part of a promotion for the game's recently announced sequel, Sludge Life 2, you may download it for free (for a little period of time).

For the cool price of fuck all, you can now purchase the game on Steam after it had a brief exclusive window on the Epic Games Shop.

This game will be perfect for you if you played and appreciated the newly released High on Life. Hey, at least I'm recommending a game to you this time that isn't voiced by someone who has, to put it mildly, done some really despicable things.

It's actually improbable that High on Life didn't get some inspiration from this game. Although though the soundtrack was created by separate artists, the vibes are remarkably similar, and it wonderfully captures the mood of the game. Also, if I had heard about it earlier, it would have been unquestionably placed on my list of games to play following that surreal experience; you might consider this post to be number 13 on that list.

Sludge Life is a chill, humorous look at how miserable it is to live in this world, which is only barely held together by the coercive nature of economically-enforced labour, despite some potentially disorienting visuals with heavy aliasing and one instance of what I'm pretty sure is a depiction of self-harm (arguably much of the drug use in this game is also potentially triggering for some, so take caution). What a getaway!
